BIRN Awards Grants to 12 Media Outlets Through Content Production Fund

Through the project Strengthening Quality News and Independent Journalism in the Western Balkans and Türkiye II, BIRN awarded grants to 12 media outlets, which will be implemented from January to March 2026.
During the selection process, the highest-rated applications were chosen, while also ensuring geographical balance.
As a result, two media outlets were selected from each Western Balkan country: Kujto and Media Koncept (Albania), Capital BA and RTV Slon (Bosnia and Herzegovina), ATV and Radio Plus 102.2 (Kosovo), Motion Group TRN and Mollekuqja (North Macedonia), KOD and RTV Teuta (Montenegro), Bujanovacke and Zoomer (Serbia).
During the implementation period, the selected media outlets will produce high-quality, independent content pieces that include cross-border, multimedia content, with content pieces featuring perspectives or issues from more than one country from the Western Balkans.
The produced investigative pieces will have a focus on including under-represented groups, such as minorities, youth and women.
Each media outlet has been assigned a mentor and will receive continuous support from BIRN throughout the content production process, through on-the-job training and mentoring.
To support implementation of these activities, each selected media outlet will be awarded financial support of up to 5,000 euros.
Stay tuned for new impactful cross-border stories from the Western Balkans.
The Content Production Grant is an initiative of the EU-funded project “Strengthening Quality News and Independent Journalism in the Western Balkans and Turkey II”.
