SSNM held a training on “Journalism in the modern era: what to keep, what to change”

The Independent Trade Union of Journalists and Media Workers organized a training for the new trends in journalism in the period October 25 to 27, 2024 in Ohrid.

15 media professionals from North Macedonia increased their knowledge for journalism in modern area as a result of this training.

The lecturer of the three-day training was the editor-in-chief of France Press for the Western Balkans, Camille Bouissou. During the training she covered several areas important for the work of journalists in recent and future years among which the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the media using examples and pointing out positive and negative effect from the usage of the AI in journalism.

Journalists from Ohrid, Skopje, Prilep, Bitola, and Shtip discussed the critical need for adapting both their skills and content to meet audience demands. With rapid technological advancements reshaping media, they emphasized that journalists and media professionals must continuously enhance their expertise to stay aligned with evolving media formats and platforms.

Bouissou focused much of the training on building an ideal newsroom. He drew on examples from around the world and the region, reflecting on the current media landscape. He also shared a vision for structuring media to enhance functionality and fulfill their core purpose. The training addressed the intense competition for audiences and highlighted the need to achieve top professionalism while attracting a broad public.
