The EU Investigative Journalism Award 2025 has officially concluded, celebrating the most impactful investigative work from the Western Balkans and Türkiye. The project Strengthening Quality News and Independent Journalism in Western Balkans and Türkiye II aims to provide systemic support to improve the quality and professionalism of journalism. Public service broadcasters and media professionals from across the Western Balkan in Podgorica, Montenegro, attended a two-day training designed to strengthen audience engagement and enhance cross-border collaboration in journalism. The Association of Journalists (AoJ) held a training camp focused on investigative journalism in Ankara between 11–15 May 2025. The camp brought together 10 young journalists from Türkiye and offered a comprehensive programme that included lectures, workshops, experience sharing, and a field visit to the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. Journalists from across the Western Balkans participated in a three-day training course on safe reporting, crisis journalism, and digital security. Investigative journalists from the Western Balkans and Türkiye are invited to submit their best work for the 2025 EU Award for Investigative Journalism. A two-day online workshop titled Practical Implementation of AI Tools in Journalism was conducted by Borislav Vukojević on April 4 and 11. Thomson Media invites young and mid-career journalists to explore the practical use of AI in journalism at a hands-on workshopp. As part of the initiative to strengthen journalistic innovation and digital capacity in the Western Balkans and Türkiye, Thomson Media hosted online workshop titled “Introductory AI Training for Journalists” on 21 and 28 March. Each session lasted approximately three and a half hours and brought together over 18 (15 F & 3 M) participants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Serbia.
